Want to Start a Community or Corporate Dragon Boat Team?

Do you work with a fantastic group of people? Do you have a community group looking for a fun, new experience? Are you and your friends trying to fit more fitness and fun into your routine?

If so, dragon boating may be the thing for you. The experts at Fairway Gorge Paddling Club will take your group and help them form into a dragon boat team, whether it’s for fun or competition.

Dragon boating is part of a world-wide community, with teams of all sorts taking to the water for fun, fitness and fellowship.

There are two dragon boat team-building options at FGPC:

  • FGPC Corporate/Community Teams
  • FGPC Independent Dragon Boat Teams

Community or Corporate Teams

Want to race dragon boats as part of a community group, company or some other group program? Consider a FGPC Corporate/Community dragon boat racing program. We supply all the necessary equipment and provide a coach and steersperson.

Dragon boat paddling offers a unique opportunity to engage in a fun team-building activity that people of all ages and fitness levels can take part in. With emphasis on collaboration, communication, commitment and coordination, the lessons learned on the water can be taken back to the workplace. Dragon boat paddling can bring out leadership, help develop a sense of pride and accomplishment among participants, and build camaraderie.

Our group programs are for both experienced and novice paddlers.

Community/Corporate teams include:

  • Dragon Boat Rental
  • Use of Paddles
  • Use of Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs)
  • Coach and Stern for all training sessions
  • Single Team entry into the Vancouver Island Dragon Boat Festival (first weekend in August)

Enrolment criteria: Teams consist of 20 paddlers with up to 4 spares. FGPC will supply you with a steersperson, a drummer and a coach. If your group has less than 20 people, FGPC will help put like-minded paddlers together to form a team.

FGPC Independent Dragon Boat Teams

Have a crew of dragon boat paddlers and want to manage your own recruitment, finances, registrations and other details? Consider forming an independent team.

Contracted rental rates are available for independent training all year, but the standard season runs from April 4 until August 31 (customized start dates are available).
