Here are FGPC’s summer 2022 employment opportunities (May through September and ongoing for some positions). Please apply by following the instructions for each position.

 

1. RETAIL / FRONT-DESK COORDINATOR (full-time)

Duties: 

  • Manage day-to-day operations of storefront and customer front desk 
  • Coordinate part time storefront employees
  • Provide regular assistance to customers, including phone and email inquiries and front desk assistance
  • Restock and reorder products and supplies as needed
  • Display, merchandise and promote store lines, products and services
  • Answer phone calls and respond to store-related emails and other communications

Skills: 

  • Knowledgeable and helpful customer service under pressure in a busy, multitask-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated self-directed work ethic and initiative
  • Ability to handle commercial phone systems and software applications
  • Ability to defuse and troubleshoot customer issues in manner that accord with company policy
  • Creative ability to merchandise and refresh store and window displays
  • Social media and online marketing aptitude and experience
  • First Aid certification preferred

2. EVENT ASSISTANT (full-time seasonal summer position with options for future part-time winter and full-time summer rehire)

Duties:

  • Assisting the event managers with multisport and multiformat events over the summer season, ranging from small meetings to large events
  • Supporting the events with logistical and administrative support
  • Helping organize and communicating with vendors, suppliers and venues

Skills: 

  • Ablility to multitask and problem solve in high-pressure, deadline-oriented environments
  • Experience and aptitude with timeline management and logistics
  • Excellent “people” and communications skills
  • Ability to defuse and troubleshoot customer issues in manner that accord with company policy
  • First Aid certification preferred

Remuneration and application procedure:

  • $18hr training wage with provision for increases to $20+hr based on performance

3. Dock Commander / Front Desk Customer Service (Part time)

Duties:

  • Set up, take down and move boat outrigger canoes, kayaks and dragon boats as required
  • Present, promote and sell products/services
  • Answer phone calls and respond to store-related emails and other communications
  • Assist staff and coaches as required
  • Steering shifts (dragon boat; steering training provided to successful applicants)


Skills:

  • Athletic ability; sufficient strength to safely carry and handle boats and dock-related and event-related equipment 
  • First Aid certification preferred

Remuneration and application procedure:

  • $18hr training wage with provision for increases to $20+hr based on performance

4. Group Booking / Dragonboat Steersperson (Part time)

Duties:

  • Storefront assistance, dock work and on-water event assistance for group and school programming
  • Steering shifts (dragon boat; steering training provided to successful applicants)

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Able to multitask and problem-solve
  • Good on-water skills and a willingness to acquire new boat skills, including dragon boat steering
  • First Aid certification preferred
  • Athletic ability
